Here are a few testimonials from my coaching clients and colleagues for which I am very grateful.

“Maria helped develop and navigate a brand-new coaching-style role for a digital leadership programme in a global bank. She was approached to fill a role that required the following broad spectrum of skills:
• Team and 1-1 coaching
• Facilitating teams through virtual projects
• Active engagement in social learning communities
• Content curation to support development
Maria was particularly helpful in making suggestions and supporting radical decisions throughout the 15-month leadership programme. She remained open minded and flexible and always put her coachee’s best interests at the heart of any activity.
The result was that Maria made the role successful and very much her own within the parameters required.
One thing I particularly liked was Maria’s passion and enthusiasm for helping her coachees deliver success. Her tenacity, encouragement and positive action enabled many of her coachees to deliver above and beyond expectations.
I found the experience of working with Maria to be very positive. Whatever challenge was given to Maria she faced it with enthusiasm and creativity.
I would recommend Maria to people who need enthusiastic, action-oriented coaching for the spectrum of junior/middle executives.”

“It was a great pleasure working with Maria as my coach on the i25 digital leadership programme. Maria is an ever positive, great listener and coach. Over 15 months Maria demonstrated her value and really helped me with my personal development. I would gladly work with Maria again.”

Ian Thomasson, Programme Manager, Santander Bank, London, UK, December 2018

“Maria was a fantastic iCoach who supported a large number of senior leaders both in small groups and on a 1 to 1 basis. Across 18 months she worked with future leaders in banking to reach their potential in think differently with agile working and digital innovation. I would recommend Maria to any individual and organisation from SME to large corporate.”

Joey Spenser-Campbell, Branch Director, Santander Bank, London, UK, December 2018

“Hi Maria

As discussed, I just wanted to give you some feedback re your coaching and support over the last 15 months as my iCoach.

On a personal level, you have been incredibly supportive on a 1:1 basis and I have found it extremely useful to have you as a soundboard as someone outside of my day to day network. Not only have you added value to my business challenge but you have also helped me experiment with some of the i25 learning in my day to day role in Santander and my team. Thank you.

Key feedback points:

– You constructively challenged myself and my business challenge group when developing our ideas to think big, bold and blue sky and consider technology and new ways of working (application of i25 learnings). For example, at first we started to get stuck into tactical process improvements and we hadn’t really applied our i25 learning – you encouraged us to think about technology and the bigger picture and we quickly got back on track! All our ideas now incorporate i25 learnings

– You shared what was working well and not so well in other groups which encouraged myself and the team to be curious and experiment more but fail fast and move on to the next idea

– Always highlighting the great work that myself and the team have done which kept us all motivated and on track

– You have helped me apply the i25 learning to my role in Santander such as when I have been working on an agile project

– You helped me set my own SMART objectives for the workplace and followed up with me on progress which kept me on track to deliver

– You have been extremely flexible and joined our business challenge meetings even outside of your working days – again this has been critical as you have had input in each of these meetings which typically includes helping us take our ideas to the next level, stretching our ideas and challenging the art of the possible.”

Matthew Cross, Business Consultant – Operations & Controls Team,Banking Operations & Control, Business Assurance, Santander Bank, Milton Keynes, UK, November 2018

“Hi Maria, I’d like to provide some feedback on you, having had you as my i25 iCoach for the last 15 months.

  • I really valued the support you gave to me over the course of i25
  • You always made time for me and were happy to re-arrange to accommodate my diary
  • You provided strong guidance and support on our business challenge throughout, which was a complex piece
  • You also were clear what the priorities were at parts of the i25 journey, making it easier for us to understand when we could ‘drop’ the business challenge for a period of time to concentrate on other learning
  • Individually you have challenged me to consider what parts of i25 I can use to make a change on a day to day basis
  • In addition you’ve pushed me to think how I can use it to become a better leader at Santander
  • I also value that you are still working with me to share links/resources etc. to allow my learning to continue
  • I believe you’ve understood and demonstrated the behaviours we live at Santander
  • As per the points above, your communication skills are great and you have shown to me that you do truly listen to my thoughts and views, you’re not afraid to speak up as part of the business challenge discussions and you talk straight by being clear what’s required and by when
  • I don’t need to say that I think you’re great at giving support and actively collaborating as per all the points above!
  • As part of our calls, you have shown respect by wanting to understand more about me and my role and the challenges I face, you have kept promises by always making time for me and I think you’ve brought passion when times on the i25 journey have been challenging, you’ve kept us going
  • Finally I know from working with your fellow iCoach Lucy at Brave New World the challenges you’ve faced this year and therefore I know you’ve had to show you can embrace change”

Martyn Pearson, CICC Reporting And Analysis Manager, CICC Reporting, Engagement & Insight | Customer Interactions, Santander Bank, Leicester, UK, Nov 2018

“Hi Maria,

I wanted to give you some feedback on you being my iCoach over the last year as part of my i25 journey.

Firstly I wanted to say that I’d not had a coach before, so I was a little bit sceptical as to the personal value that I would get from it. However I kept and open mind and I’m thankful that I did, through the journey I found it incredibly useful to set goals and targets for myself, some not specific to i25, and then discuss my progress against these. I have always thought of myself as driven and whilst I still feel this is true, I now really value the open commitment to someone independent to nudge me and to help me find the answers.

I found your support throughout fantastic and you always made yourself available when either myself or the group needed. Additionally, you brought an independent viewpoint which helped me to look at things differently whilst still staying true to myself, something I’m sure that the rest of the team shared.

Finally, whilst I have finished the i25 journey, adopting the principles, ways of working and leading in a digital customer centric age has only just started. So I would like to thank you for your input, insight and direction over the last year and wish you every success for the future.

Bob Gregitis, Senior Manager, Retail Change & Transformation, Santander Bank, Milton Keynes, UK, Dec 2018

“Maria has been a source of immense support throughout her time as a coach for the i25 project. She clearly defined the standards in our i25 journey and helped the team achieve their goals and always provided participative feedback to the team members. Maria’s skills and techniques contributed to success of the program where in she guided the team whenever there was any confusion or a barrier. Maria took all her actions away and very promptly delivered on them to ensure the team were able to move on smoothly,  Maria was tolerant of mistakes but at the same time she created and communicated clear expectations, and never failed to follow up on them to ensure the team were on track.

Maria was very prompt in conducting the 1:1 sessions with the team. She ensured she listened what I had to say and guided me accordingly. For me specifically I was going through a very tough time in my personal life and also my work pressure was immense. Maria listened to me and made some considerations as appropriate which really helped me in those times and I was fortunate to have Maria as my coach.

Overall Maria maintained her high standards in terms of what was expected. She ensured she was with the ream in every move and provided monitoring which was required. Maria demonstrated her analytical skills by reviewing what the team were thinking or doing to ensure they were on the right page and  most importantly Maria was very prompt with her feedback which I believe is vital to any project.”

Prakash Chandran, Senior Audit Manager, Santander Bank, London, UK Jan 2019

“Hi Maria,

Really appreciate your help and support throughout the programme. It was always good to get your timely feedback on our project and also the gentle nudges to keep us on track throughout. More importantly, you supported us very positively throughout and I suppose that was one of the key motivational inputs for us to stay on the course despite the challenges.”

Peeyush Gaur, Senior Manager, Structured Finance Risk, SGCB, Santander Bank, London, UK, Dec 2018

“Throughout the course, Maria has made herself available to join our group meetings and provided invaluable advice on how to approach the various challenges presented to us. She is a clearly knowledgeable and experienced coach who pushed us to think differently in regards to how we approached both the business challenge and the mini projects.

Personal 121 meetings were specific and not generic, it came across that Maria was genuinely tracking my development and offering advice tailored to my own personal journey. She was aware of the pressures I had at work and flexible in accommodating any business priorities that arose – of which there were many. Admittedly I am not the easiest person to coach but Maria was understanding and persevered.

Having met other coaches on the various i25 courses and discussed with participants outside of my cohort I feel we were lucky to have had Maria guide through this journey.”

Chris Sweeney, Technology Governance & Control Manager, Santander Bank, London, UK, Nov 2018

“Maria made a very positive first impression within our team, helped by her engaging smile and warm personality. Over the past 12 months Maria has supported myself and my team as part of the i25 leadership development programme. This has consisted of individual and group coaching session as well has providing a guiding hand at key times. It has been a pleasure to work with Maria and wish her all the best for the future.”

John McClelland, Business Manager, Customer Interactions Contact Centre, Glasgow, UK, Nov 2018

“Maria was my iCoach during Santander’s Digital learning programme. Over a period of 15 months, she played a key role in my development journey – signposting possible outcomes, providing insight into new ways of working, reflecting back progress and generally being on hand to offer advice, guidance and someone to offload too…

I enjoyed working with Maria and believe she would add value to any organisation….”

Simon Church, Senior Change Manager, Regulatory Portfolio, Digital Services, Santander Bank, Milton Keynes, UK, December 2018

Dear current and new clients of Maria Spiteri

You are in the most gentle and capable hands and en route to find out a lot about yourselves.

Maria is unique in combining competences such as business acumen, strategic thinking, NLP, personal development, emotional intelligence, project management, entrepreneurship, psychology, etc…It was mind-blowing to see her in action! Within an hour she went in depth with my financial, personal, career and family issues … She identified clearly where the problems were and she prompted me to find the solutions and together we defined an action plan with specific goals. I felt relieved from my emotional and psychological clutter, in fact I realised how empowered and inspired I was after our session! I loved the experience!

Maria is currently following up with my progress and I have no alternative but to deliver!

Maria, I can’t thank you enough!!”

Ellie Raycheva, Chartered Accountant/Consultant, London, England

Hi Maria,

I would like to start by thanking you for this amazing experience.

My first session was amazing and I must say you’re very professional at your job. You first explained what will happen during the session and made sure I’m comfortable before starting.

I must say I was super impressed. I was so relaxed and confident about a few issues I had bearing in my mind. During the session you explained that some times we know what we want in life its just a matter of taking the opportunity when available.

I look at situations differently today and I thank you for this once again Maria, I’m looking forward of my next session 🙂

Thanks and Regards”

“I wanted to send you a big thank you for your help when you offered your coaching. Today I understand more than ever that thanks to you, today I’m doing what I always wanted, thanks”

Henry Zammit, Business Owner, Malta

“Before having sessions with Maria, I was not focused on how to best position myself within the business I work in. I knew what my end goal was but within the current “working structure” of the business, achieving the goals were extremely difficult. Maria put in perspective my value and what it was worth – which ultimately helped me shape (with her assistance) the path forward. Maria helped me to understand and develop my ability to make a difference by understanding my value. My intellect and experience needs to be put into action whereby I am able to focus on what I am best at and what can make me the most money. Now I am able to download work that doesn’t put me in a position to make more money.”

DCA, Business Owner, Malta

“Hi Maria,

I know you are very passionate about empowering people through NLP.

My session with you was incredible. From the start you were making sure I was comfortable and happy to talk about the issues that were on my mind. The initial discussion to outline the areas I wanted to work on was conducted with great professionalism and care. You managed to put me at ease and by gently breaking down the issues into more understandable chucks which made me feel less anxious and overwhelmed. Then, by using NLP techniques, you began to make me feel that I had the confidence to improve myself and that with the right attitude I can achieve anything.

I especially enjoyed the session and I felt great, very relaxed and when I stood up I genuinely felt 10 feet tall. Walking back to the station I noticed a spring in my step, a smile on my face and and genuine air of confidence. The next day at work I was amazed to find I had a more positive attitude and was able to deal with things with a lot more ease.

I would like to thank you, you are a natural. I will definitely be recommending you and look forward to further sessions with you.
Many thanks”

Graham Baker, Technology Manager, Investment Banking, London, England

Just wanted to start by telling you how wonderful your services are.

I did one session with you and one of the key things we discussed was my ability to stay calm in stressful situations and to shift focus from the negativity of the situation to the actual goals I need to accomplish.

A couple of days later I had a situation where someone was screaming in my face and pushing for a physical confrontation. This went on for a good 30 minutes and I was extremely calm and controlled throughout the whole situation.  I have been in the same situation many times before but was always reactive and upset. Also, after the confrontation, I was able to quickly regain focus and went back to getting what I needed done.

You are incredible.  Your voice, attitude and style of interaction are exactly what are needed with the work you do. Not to mention your beautiful smile.”

Navid Hamid, Business Owner, Los Angeles, USA

“Maria Spiteri helped me to make a difference to gain self-confidence in my English skills (English is not my first language) and to increase my assertiveness.  Maria helped me to understand and develop my ability to make a difference by training me so I have good thoughts about myself, avoiding hindering thoughts, teaching me to train the brain, filling it with positive things and preparing beforehand my meetings, so I can feel confidence in speaking up. My role needs high levels of confidence and being able to deal with very senior managers. She gave me different options and tips to change my habits of thinking. The obstacles I faced were to stop hindering thoughts, as they popped into my mind so easily. The solution was to ‘force’ myself to have a couple of positive thoughts about me every single day. I will continue to make a difference by believing in myself, speaking up, when required and recognising and rejecting hindering thoughts.”

Marta de la Fuente del Rio, Finance Department, Santander Bank, Milton Keynes, UK, January 2018

“Maria Spiteri has helped me to make a difference and the measurable difference I have made is I have conducted effective “Career Conversations” with each individual member of my team. The outputs of these meetings included at least two specific recommendations for each team member’s personal development to be included in their Personal Excellence Plan for 2018. Maria helped me to understand and develop my ability to make a difference by encouraging me to use the concept of “possibility thinking” to turn my mind-set (and those of others) around in order to overcome resistance to new ideas. This has proven to be a simple, yet effective tool. Maria very effectively kept me focused on using the “possibility thinking” technique as a way of opening up the conversations and exploring deeper options.”

Julian Curtis, Head of Statutory Reporting, Financial Accounting & Control, Santander Bank, London, UK, January 2018

“Hi Maria, Thank you for coaching skills during the E18 Programme. I really feel that I benefitted very much from your insight and suggestions. You really made me look at issues in a way that I would not otherwise have thought of. Thank you. Regards Doug”
